MaasSAC – Who We Are
Maastrichtse Studenten Alpen Club, or MaasSAC for short, is the student climbing association of Maastricht. With currently over 100 members we are a group of outdoor enthusiasts, who like to climb, hike and enjoy the student life. Whether you like alpinism, bouldering or rockclimbing, MaasSAC is the place to be! On Mondays we can be found in the bouldering gym; on Thursdays in the climbing gym; on the weekends somewhere in Belgium outdoors; and on the holidays somewhere in the Alps. In short, MaasSAC is the place to be!
Are you completely new to climbing? Worry not! After joining you will get a basic climbing course to teach you how to climb and belay safely. From that moment you will be an independent climber and ready to climb as much as you’d like! There is even a possibility to become a climbing instructor yourself.
Apart from climbing we organize social events, like board game evenings, lasertag or just going for some drinks after climbing. So, besides the fact that MaasSAC will get you super fit, you will also get the most out of your student life here in Maastricht!

MaasSAC Presents:
The MaasSAC Open Bouldering Competition
Our Open Boulder Competition wrapped up with an exciting final on December 1st, and we couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere. The event was a huge success, thanks in large part to the setters, who put in an incredible amount of work to ensure there were fresh and challenging boulders every week throughout the competition.
We were thrilled to have Allez! as our sponsor this year, providing prizes such as chalk and brushes for the winners. A special shoutout also goes to our material commissioner Harin, for designing the awesome posters and stickers that gave the event its look.
The finals had an amazing atmosphere — especially with Štepán’s fanbase showing up in full force with posters and loud cheers, bringing serious hype to the gym. The finalists gave it their all and were celebrated accordingly at the end of the night 🏆

Interested in a chance to win ✦prizes✦ by bouldering?
The Routesetting Committee is excited to announce our very own bouldering competition taking place at the UM Sports Climbing Wall! For the entire month of November the committee will reset/refresh the entire boulder wall every week so you have new problems to solve and maximize your chance to earn points. The competition finals will take place as an event on Dec 1st, so come join us and see who comes out on top!
Prizes include a MaasSAC tshirt, finger trainers, chalk, posters and more!
This is an open competition for any climber (i.e. you don’t have to be a MaasSAC member) so feel free to share this to anyone you think would be interested!
Note: You will need a TopLogger account if you want to be eligible for the finals
How to participate:
- Go to the UM Sports Climbing Wall and check into UM Sports
- Climb any of the boulders (they will be marked)
- Record your successful ascents on TopLogger
- We will reach out to the finalists to participate in the finals
