Are you looking forward to a cool weekend trip to Fontainebleau, or want to climb in Berdorf? But you lack the necessary material? Look no further, we of the material committee don’t only take care of the equipment used in courses or trips, but also offer MaasSAC members the opportunity to rent material for a small fee! This can be done by asking the members of the material committee, granted, you have the proper experience/knowledge for certain materials.

As such we only rent ropes, carabiners, quickdraws, etc. to people with an Outdoor climbing (OV) license. However, the crash pads for bouldering are certainly available for rent without a license restriction. If you are not sure whether you can or cannot rent material, just want to rent material, or have some questions about material contact us at:

Currently the material committee consists of:

  • Kevin: studying the Master Artificial Intelligence
  • Joeri: studying the Master Human Movement Science
  • Conrad: currently fled from the other two to Portugal, under the guise of doing an internship, out of fear for Kevin and Joeri.

And last but not least we are always welcoming new members for the material committee! You are welcome, even if you don’t know much about material. Everything can be learned, and some we will learn together! Since we don’t know everything either…

Renting Material
Only climbers with a valid Outdoor Leadclimbing (OV) license are allowed to rent material from MaasSAC.

All climbers have to ask for permission before renting material to:

  1. Michael Capalbo ( ) → he is the instructor responsible for handling the MaasSAC-materials
    • He will determine whether you are allowed to rent out material based on:
      1. Climbing location (where)
      2. Climbing partner (who)
      3. Routes (what)
  2. Material committee (

Losing Material during a MaasSAC event

If you are a participant of any MaasSAC event which uses climbing gear, you will be assigned a specific set of gear to use during the event. The gear will be provided by a member of the materials committee

For the duration of the event, the gear assigned to you will be considered your own responsibility.

At the end of the event, you must return all of the gear assigned to you to a member of the materials committee. If any gear is missing, and you are not able to find it yourself, you will be considered to have lost it and must pay to have it replaced. The cost of the gear replacement will be given by the materials committee.

Losing rented material

Material rented from MaasSAC is considered your own responsibility. Therefore, if you lose any MaasSAC material you must pay for it to be replaced within one month. The cost of the gear replacement will be given by a publically visible price list, provided by the materials committee.

Material Damage

If you break MaasSAC material, it will be decided on a case by case basis if the cost of replacing the gear will be paid by you or by MaasSAC. In general we propose that broken gear due to negligence will be paid by you, and broken gear due to wear and tear will be paid by MaasSAC. This decision will be made by the materials committee. The prices for replacement will be published on the website.
